The Chestnut Grove

I captured this nature portrait in Roselawn, Indiana on July 12th, 2017. While I was driving through Roselawn, Indiana, I came across this rare grove of chestnut trees off of a state road. I captured this image in black and white because it was overcast on this day and colors were very flat. I wanted to emphasize the leaves since the available light was making them brighter than in color, contrasting well with the shadows deeper in the forest. My favorite element about this scene is how the shadows in the forest add a sense of depth.

Printed on Hahnemühle Torchon paper. Limited to 150 productions per size.

Framed prints are available in 20" x 16", 30" x 24", 40" x 32", and 50" x 40" sizes.
