On The Hunt

I captured this image, as well as "Dinner Date", of two Lesser Sandhill Cranes while driving through Demotte, Indiana on February 12th, 2020 during a light snowfall. While driving by a harvested corn field, I saw several Lesser Sandhill Cranes wandering around looking for food and these two were the only ones that were in range of my telephoto lens. These two cranes, I'm guessing a mating pair since stayed together the whole time I watched and photographed them, were walking around and eating remnants of the harvest. My favorite element of this image is how the light grey and white colors of their feathers contrasts with the soil of the field. Another detail I like is how the snowfall is visible against the background due to bokeh (blur).

Printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper. Limited to 300 productions per size.

Framed prints are available in 20" x 16" and 30" x 24" sizes.
